It took 16 hours to warp and set the table-top loom, 80 hours weave the designs and 24 hours to document their specifications in a presentable format. The woven designs presented here form a part of one of my largest collection of woven swatches including about 20 designs of about 7 x 7 inches. This collection was titled, "Ethnature." The idea was to develop a fabric employing yarns that symbolize Indian ethnicity and have natural origins.
Yarns: 40s and 60s Cotton, Jute, Linen (Flax) and Bamboo
This collection includes selections from a variety of abstract and floral patterns from the 25 samplers that I developed for a Mumbai based manufacturer, Hemlines Pvt. Ltd. in 2012. The company specializes in designing bed linen and accessories for European buyers.
Each of these samplers would be filed in the company's collections and then sent into production depending on buyer's choice and specifications.
